SPECIFIC GUIDELINES AND COSTS:A Month ONE ON ONE Mentorship costs just $1,200. This is much cheaper than a writers conference or a writing program. Pay one fee only. There are no hidden costs. Fee refundable if mentor fails to fulfill his/her contract. A wonderful credit to have for your resume or vita.
Poetry/Poetry in Translation Mentorships: Submit two poems (50 line limit) by email per week to your mentor, and your mentor will close read them, making extensive written critical comments and suggestions, then email you twice a week with these comments and to discuss your work. Submissions must be in 12 point font.
Memoir and Essay Mentorships: At the end of each mentorship, students will receive Certificates of Completion signed by their mentors. : Submit one full-length memoir or one essay (up to 5000 words) via email for the month mentorship. Your mentor will close read your submission, then make extensive written critical comments and suggestions via email twice each week on your essay or memoir. You may ask questions about any critical response. Submissions must be in 12 point font.
A Six Week In-depth ONE ON ONE Interactive Manuscript Evaluation costs just $2,500 for up to a 200 page ms. Pay one fee only. There are no hidden costs. Fee refundable if mentor fails to fulfill his/her contract. Short Story or Essay Collection.: This is a six week one-on-one evaluation session. Your mentor will read your short story or memoir ms.(up to 200 pages double-spaced), then email his/her critical comments and suggestions to you on Zoom for two hours weekly. His evaluation include extensive criticisms about character development, plot, dialogue, action, narrative and character arcs, etc. You respond to criticisms with questions. The Poetry Manuscript Evaluation: This is a six week one-on-one evaluation session of one entire poetry ms. (120 double-spaced page limit). Your writer will read your ms., then email you or speak with you on Zoom weekly (approximately two contact hours/week) for six weeks to make extensive critical suggestions and help you revise your ms. You will also be able to email questions to your mentor. Poetry evaluations will include ordering the ms., suggestions to omit poems, discussions of image, lyric, and/or narrative arcs, suggestions for revision of specific poems, etc. You may respond with questions.
